Here is a list of questions I get asked a lot. So to save your time I have put them all together. If you have a question that isn’t asked here please do not hesitate to get in touch.
HOW ARE THE QUILTS MADE?
Made using your chosen clothes and fabrics, I craft Luxury Memory Quilts in a patchwork style, to use as many of your cherished items as I can.
Whatever items of clothing you choose,Whether you’re using a bundle of baby clothing, a pile of children’s clothes or the clothing of a lost loved one, I will handcraft you a beautiful keepsake quilt with the prints, details and embroidered sections used wherever possible.
WHAT SIZE ARE YOUR QUILTS?
My quilts comes in five sizes to suit a wide range of uses. All sizes are approximate and may vary slightly depending on the clothes that are used.
- Standard: 90x105cm (42 squares)
- Large: 105x120cm (56 squares)
- Single: 120x165cm (88 squares)
- Double: 165x165cm (121 squares)
- King Size: 210x180cm ( 168 squares)
To create your keepsake gift, simply tell me your preferred size, colour, binding and add personalisation if you want to add an extra finishing touch.
HOW DO I WASH MY QUILT?
My memory blankets can be machine washed at 30 degrees, however, I highly recommend hand washing them in warm water and leaving them to dry on an airer or washing line.
HOW MANY ITEMS OF CLOTHING DO I NEED FOR A QUILT?
The Luxury quilt can be made from a range of clothing, all stretch fabrics and thin fabrics will be lined, to ensure your quilt keeps it shape. I try my hardest to use items with images on however, this is not always possible. If you have special requests, or would like certain parts of clothing used/ not used please add a note to your order. If for any reason I believe I can’t do what is requested I will contact you before making.
Baby Clothes: If you are sending baby clothes I will use both sides of the grow this includes poppers and items with plain backs, if you wish for no plain coloured squares, please send additional items and write a note of this on your order. SQUARES ARE APPROXIMATELY 15CM SQUARE.
Adult clothes: For adult clothing, I will incorporate images and button details on shirts. I can incorporate ties and small items on the quilts and try to use any t-shirts or shirts with details such as pockets or emblems.
Standard quilt: I recommend at least 15 baby clothes, a minimum of 11 items of child’s clothing or a minimum of 6 large adult items.
Large quilt: I recommend at least 28 baby clothes, a minimum of 14 items of child’s clothing or a minimum of 8 large adult items.
Single quilt: I recommend at least 44 baby clothes, a minimum of 22 items of child’s clothing or a minimum of 11 large adult items.
Double quilt: I recommend at least 62 baby clothes, a minimum of 32 items of child’s clothing or a minimum of 16 large adult items.
King Size quilt: I recommend at least 84 baby clothes, a minimum of 42 items of child’s clothing or a minimum of 22 large adult items.
HOW DO I SEND YOU MY ITEMS?
After you have placed your order you will receive a confirmation email after which you can post items. Please use robust packaging and recorded delivery and remember to include your address detailed and order number so that I know who they belong to! I will send an email to confirm that I have your items as soon as I receive them.
HOW MUCH IS DELIVERY?
The cost of delivery is included in the price of your quilt.
This includes tracked delivery so a signature may be required on arrival.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO CREATE MY MEMORY QUILT?
My standard turnaround time is up to 6 weeks of receipt of clothing.
If you have a special date that your keepsake is required please make a note of this with your order.
WHAT PAYMENT TYPES DO YOU ACCEPT?
When ordering online we take all of our payments through PayPal. We have found this the easiest & safest option. If you do not have a PayPal account follow the link & at the bottom of the screen there is also an option to pay by credit or debit card.
I also accept bank transfer, but please contact me first if you wish to use this payment method.
CAN I RETURN AN ITEM?
I am sorry but I cannot accept returns as this is a bespoke item. Please note that there may be variations, due to the very different natures of the fabrics I receive, the final item may differ slightly from the examples shown. If there is a concern with an item after delivery however, please do get in touch so I can put it right.
